No title, I'm just too fucking tired....

5:30 this morning,  a 600 volt 1200 amp fuse decided it was time to say fuck you...

Yeah it was a wonderful start of the day...

Parts supplier ( awesome  people by the way ) tell me that I can pick up the fuse from their source. 40 minutes there, 40 minutes  back through stupid illinois commuters, yeah you know my shouted language....

It was pretty creative....

Come 6:00, bewildered  mexican temp workers are looking to me why are half of the lights off?

After fourteen  years,  never learned that language....fuck them, learn my language...

Com Ed, "we will be there in two hours..." never saw them...

My chief  pull the old fuse ( that high voltage shit makes me wet myself  ) bolts the new one in plus the other  two and we button up the panel...

Slowly put power to the entire plant, one disconnect and breaker at a time...

And after that I'm going to give you a scarlet fever post...

If you don't  approve, too bad...

  3. 600v 1200 amps makes the sane people wet their pants. That's why the line crews have those orange rubber thingies and big gloves for fusable links. That must be why the luscious reds.

    1. Yeah, my ark flash gear is old and far past certification...the main joke this morning was the meme where there was a outline of a man in ash with the text about experienced electrician needed...

    2. My dad always told me to always keep one hand in my back pocket while working on high voltage. I always thought the better saying was 'you do it'...

  4. All that at work and you still put out a fantastic spread.

    Thanks for all you do.

  5. I think an appropriate title would be "God really does love us". He gave us all these beautiful women. But He also knows that we are prone to acting without thinking. That is why those beautiful women are also crazy.

  10. Yeah, rummaging around in big 480 panels is hairy enough. I want nothing to do with 600 Volts.
Outstanding Gingermaggeden post, by the way.
    Thanks, Doc!

  12. Have the bean-counters ever considered how little spare fuses cost in comparison to lost production time?

  15. Outstanding post, especially after the exciting morning. Well done.
Your story reminded me... As a stupid 19yo E3, got bit and knocked across the room being careless while cleaning a live 440v capstan controller. Was out for a few minutes. Surprised I lived to talk about it. Lesson learned. (Still stupid, but not about working on live 440v.)

  20. Think of all the broken windows, golf clubs thrown through car windshields, knives plunged into tires or leather seats, dishes or pots thrown at someone that these Smokin Hot crazies have done. That’s a lot of damage!

  21. Nice gaggle of red heads for a Hump Day (even though it's Thursday as I type this) Thanks!
