I live in Paraguay and there was a radio shack in the mall. I was shocked. I hadn't seen one in years. Gone now. Don't know if it closed or moved locations.
When I was a kid I would haunt the local Radio Shack. I bought component from West Germany, Great Britain as well as the USA. Later they most came from Japan. Toward the end, as a friend observed, if one spent more than $3 at Radio Shack, one got cheated and everything came from china. The company committed suicide.
I spent a few bucks in Radio Shak. Obviously, not enough. I knew the end was near when finding connectors and project parts got difficult but there was stack of cheap RC cars on the floor.
I absolutely loved going to Radio Shack as a kid! It really launched my career as a nerd, and ultimately led to my longest career in IT back when nobody knew anything about electronics.
Radio shack was doomed when our business leaders changed our culture to disposable stuff as opposed to repairable stuff. People in suits ruined America.
