  1. Got there in Nov, '84 in the dead of night. Wintered over, then went to BE&E and EM 'A' School before trucking off to Orlando for Nuke school. Lost my wisdom teeth there - had the boot print on my forehead to prove it.

  3. Went to MM "A" school there fall of 75. Damn cold winds coming off the lake but watching hours-long thunderstorms out there was kind of relaxing. The 600# plant if it is still there would be my last duty station standing.

  5. Is that an LPD? Sure looks like it. Signed up for the suck in 77. Got out in 81 and swore I'd never go back. 1986 I shipped out again and retired in 02. I miss the people but nothing else. Never met a finer bunch of assholes in the Corps.

  8. Great Lakes, winter of ‘89. Navy told me I was going to San Diego. Liars. 6yo, BT A school and C school. First ship was FF-1067. 1200lb plant. Worked hard and partied hard. Good times, good people.

  9. An anniversary to be proud of Doc. From what I gather, a trade to be proud of as well. Congrats!
Little Creek is a different place now, last time I worked there was just before 9/11. My daughter works there now. She will leave Navy service from there in July. 3 access gates that get backed up regularly.
I'm Merchant Marine, earned my Masters ticket in 1983. I still work with a lot of people who went through Great Lakes.

My understanding is that was the largest all glass building at the time.
