RIP: Lynn "Buck" Compton
I missed this earlier in the week. You may remember Buck Compton (left) from Neal McDonough's portrayal of the real life hero in Band of Brothers (right). He was awarded the Silver Star for helping in an assault near Utah Beach which disabled four German 105 mm howitzers (shown in the miniseries).
What you may not know is that he was also an LAPD cop, a prosecutor, and a judge. In fact, he helped prosecute Sirhan Sirhan. He also played both football and baseball for UCLA (hey, nobody's perfect!). He appeared in the 1943 Rose Bowl against Georgia and his baseball teammate was Jackie Robinson.
Some people lived more in one life than two or three of the rest of us put together.
