Cars of that era had better style but mechanically were vastly inferior. Poor mileage even with the detuned low power engines. It was unusual for a car of that era to reach 100K miles. Now most cars easily last that long. Many things of that era were inferior to todays products. Some were actually built better. All in all it's actually a toss up as to whether life then was better than today. The one thing that can't be argued is there were fewer people and far fewer useless parasites sucking at the public teat.
How I would love to have one of those Z-cars. I was around in the era, but my young, dumb ass wouldn't even look at any 'Jap crap', cars or bikes. Now my garage has 6 Jap bikes in it, none newer than 1981. --Tennessee Budd
