Too bad an ego driven asshole cannot remember the past
The Pander pirate
President Obama told Diane Sawyer of ABC News today that he would continue pursuing an ambitious agenda because, "I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president."
Despite new problems with a health care bill and other political setbacks, Obama said he doesn't want to look back on his presidency and say, "All I was interested in was nurturing my own popularity."
"You know, there is a tendency in Washington to believe our job description, of elected officials, is to get re-elected," Obama told Sawyer. "That's not our job description. Our job description is to solve problems and to help people."
Speaking two days before his State of the Union address, Obama also expressed a lack of concern about fading approval ratings.
"I went through this [in] the campaign," the president said. "When your poll numbers drop, you are an idiot. When your poll numbers are high, you are a genius."
