Dick Durbin: If 2012 Elections Is A “Referendum” On Obama Then Democrats “In Trouble”…
DAILYCALLER Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin told the Chicago Tribune that if the 2012 election is a “referendum” on President Barack Obama, then Democrats are “in trouble.”
In an interview Thursday for the Tribune’s “Chicago Live” series, Durbin was asked about the election.
“If it is a referendum, then we’re in trouble because the economy’s not good and people’ll say, ‘well, I just want to make it clear I don’t like the way things are,’” Durbin said.

…Pelosi, in pitch to donors, sees ‘turning point’ for Dems in 2012 House races
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is seeking a surge of Democratic campaign donations before the next Federal Election Commission fundraising deadline, claiming that Democrats can reach a “turning point” in their bid to reclaim the majority.
“If we continue to stand together, I believe this moment will mark the turning point on the road to a Democratic victory in 2012,” Pelosi writes in a new Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising email.
Democrats will face an uphill battle reclaiming the majority after their 2010 election night drubbing that swept Republicans into control of the House.
But in the email pitch, Pelosi argues that Republicans have provided an opening, alleging that “the American people are rejecting the Tea Party Republican agenda that puts tax breaks for the wealthiest people in our country ahead of creating jobs.”
“Now, it is up to us to seize this moment,” she writes. “That’s why the looming October 31st FEC fundraising deadline is so critical. This is the last fundraising deadline before the one year out to Election Day marker and House Democrats must have a strong showing.”
Pelosi, in the email pitch, says a muscular showing in this fundraising cycle will be critical in shaping the narrative of the Democrats’ prospects.

Hillary Clinton:‘No Evidence’ DOJ Sought Required License to Send Guns to Mexico in ‘Fast and Furious’
CNSNEWS Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified in the House Foreign Relations Committee Thursday that there was "no record" that the Justice Department had given the State Department a "head up" about Operation Fast and Furious, in which guns were allowed to flow from the United States to drug traffickers in Mexico, and that the State Department had found "no evidence" that DOJ had applied for a license or waiver to send guns to a foreign country, which a member of the committee told her would have been required under U.S. law.

Eric Holder to testify on fast and furious
Politico Attorney General Eric Holder will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 8 about the controversial Fast and Furious gun-running program, the Justice Department confirmed Friday.
Holder is under fire from Republicans, who have accused him of lying in testimony about when he first learned of the program.
Committee member Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said that he was also eager to talk to Holder about other issues.
“I expect that the questions will not be limited to Fast and Furious. A lot of people on the committee are looking forward to having a conversation with Eric Holder. Some were not satisfied with his responses the last time he was before the committee,” King told POLITICO. “I don’t want to tip my hand, but I think that it will be broadly more interesting than Fast and Furious, which is extraordinarily interesting in and of itself.”
“I am looking forward to Eric Holder coming to testify in front of House Judiciary,” added King. “I expect that the questions will come fast and furious.”
I would be happier if this chucklehead was appearing before a grand jury.
